The Museum of the Slovak Village is the largest ethnographic open-air exposition in Slovakia. It provides a picture of traditional folk architecture, housing and the way of life of people who lived in northwestern Slovakia in the latter half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The museum features 150 buildings that used to serve living, production, social and sacral purposes, some of them are open to the public. The Museum of the Slovak Village has been organizing programme events to mark the Ethnographic Year showcasing samples of traditional folk production, handicrafts, customs and folklore
On the left bank of the Váh river, close to Žilina, you find the Strečno Castle on top of the limestone rock. In the past it was the safest fort in the Považie region. The castle was mentioned for the first time in 1384 in a phrase Comitatus castri Strechyn, i.e. estates of the Castle of Strečno.
Velký Kriváň (1 708,7 m nm) je nejvyšší hora pohoří Malá Fatra. Nachází se na hlavním hřebeni Kriváňské části Malé Fatry, která po něm nese své meno.
