The history of the Warsaw Zoo back to the 17th century, when there were found menagerie accessible to the public. Warsaw Zoo itself was founded in 1928 and occupied an area of ​​12 hectares. He was here for 500 animals. Between 1930 - 1939 here was imported exotic animals. In 1937, the zoo managed to reproduce the Indian elephant. In 1939, increased to an area of ​​32 hectares and at that time was one of the largest zoos in Europe. During the 2nd World War II Warsaw Zoo was damaged and several animals died. After the war, in 1946 the zoo was reopened. At that time, had 150 animals.

Today's Warsaw zoo occupies an area of ​​40 hectares and there are more than 5000 animals (500 species). Animals are divided into several exposures. There are refreshments, train rides to and for children there is also the hour of the zoo, where children learn the life of animals.
