The Regional Technical Museum company was established by The ŠKODA HOLDING joint-stock company and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen with the intention to build a modern, interactive museum (often known as a science center) in the industrial estate of Škoda Company. On the supervisory board of this company, there are representatives of the town of Pilsen and the Pilsen region. The interactive museum project Techmania Science Center was originally called Technorama, after a Swiss science center. The intention of both founders is to respond to the present situation, when there is a decreasing interest in technical fields. Science centers are understood as a time-tested means of increasing interest in science and technology. The main target groups are children and youth.
With the aim to come up with new ideas for popularization of science and to extend the tools of informal education which Techmania has to offer, the science center decided to create a very special planetarium.
The West-Bohemian Museum belongs to the most important museum institutions in Bohemia and scientific work centres in a number of scientific subjects.
More than a century and a half ago a story began to unfold and has since been inscribed in golden letters into the history of the Czech nation and of beer brewing around the world. The story of Plzeňský Prazdroj.
